Like the long winded banter
of a poorly written television program
the long long, green green grass
is flattened into a smooth path
leading to:
first; a small amount of money
and then
second; to the booze
if you want it bad enough
you'll find a way to get it
even if the landlord
can't seem to keep up
his end of the maintenance agreement

Thoughts of people far away

As you wrestle
with your emotions
and try to
slow things down

the long lost
friend from Simcoe
you wish
you had around

the big city is moving
people try to keep up
don't discount the truth
of sweat and some good luck

the night shows relief
and the birds start to wake
another day of hunting
and resting in the shade
